I’m sure there are more bands and musicians out there this weekend, but this is the list I’ve been given!  Be sure check with your favorite venues to see who is playing if they’re not listed here.

Today, I a mentioned some of my favorite movie soundtracks when I played a request for a listener during my Classic Lunch Buffet.

As a matter of fact, I started thinking about my personal soundtrack collection on vinyl and thought I'd make a list of my all those I still love to listen to (but now listen to on CD.)

'TOP GUN'...'HEAVY METAL'...'GREASE'...'GREASE 2'...'FLASHDANCE'...'SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER'...'BEVERLY HILLS COP'...'COCKTAIL'...'DIRTY DANCING'...'TWISTER'...and finally....my all-time favorite soundtrack...'FM!'

How could you NOT love the "FM" soundtrack from 1978? Not only do I still play many of these songs on Q97, but this music was also the soundtrack of my freshman year in high school!  Ahhhh...the memories!  And...it's a soundtrack featured in a movie about a rock-n-roll radio station!!!  Little did I know in 1978 that I'd still be spinning these tunes for the masses and actually working at a radio station!

The students who are part of the STRIDE Program at Somerset High School came by for a station tour and some career advice today!  This is me with them in our front lobby!

A stark, but beautiful, reminder that we still have more winter days to come!  As much as we are enjoying the sunshine and pleasant temperatures, we still have February and most of March before springtime arrives.  I don'tknow  about you, but I really can't wait for it to get here!

I might not have had a great lunch today...but I'll have a terrific dinner!  Tonight is the annual Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Banquet and Karen & the crew from Schaffer's will be cookin' up some good grub for us!

Just thought I'd share this music with you from Medusa Childe! These guys are 3 of my best friends...brothers, almost...and I think you'll like their original stuff!

They are from here in Somerset. And, like many of the local bands and musicians I am friends with, I'd like to see them get to next level!

Their newest track is "To Save You" and they are currently in the studios working on more to have available soon!

I've been trying to figure out who they sound like...but can't quite put my finger on it. It's a combination of several artists and bands. Any suggestions?

At this time of year, I like to search around to find out what new movies might be heading our way for the year. I've seen several previews and trailers for various films, but I tend to forget release dates of movies that I really want to see as soon as I leave the theatre.

My research, though, has taken me to this list of movies I can't wait to see in 2012 and it has allowed me to put some dates in my appointment book.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" won't hit theatres until December 14th...just in time for another Christmas season.  (If you hurry, you'll get to see it before the Mayan calendar expires!)  I am so stoked about this movie...and more than excited that Peter Jackson is directing it!

I'm a huge fan of Will Smith...so "Men In Black 3" can't get here soon enough.  It's due for release on May 25th.  Sadly for any chance I might have to see the movie, that weekend is Somernites Cruise, a Nickelback concert in Louisville and our first 'Art On The Plaza' for the season.  I might get to see it on Memorial Day if I'm not too tired to move from my recliner.

Snow White fans get to choose from two movies this year. March 16th will give us "Mirror, Mirror" starring Julie Roberts as the wicked queen.  Seriously?  She's always such as sweetheart, it will be difficult to buy her as evil.  If she pulls this off, she might deserve some awards.  The second release, scheduled for June 1st, is "Snow White & The Huntsman" starring Twilight's Kristen Stewart at Snow White with a knack for survival...Thor's yummy Chris Hemsworth as the man who sets out to kill Snow White...and Charlize Theron as the evil queen...(and I can totally buy her in that roll!)

Speaking of Thor..."The Avengers" will hit theatres on May 4th.  Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and more will all join forces to save the Earth.  Frankly, I just want to see Thor and his hammer!

"The Hunger Games" will be released on March 23rd...that's about the earliest release of a 'much-anticipated' movie this year!  Kentucky's own Jennifer Lawrence will star in this film based on a series of young adult books.  Ths studio only hopes it will perform half as well as the The Twilight Saga!

For June 22nd, I expect to be somewhere in a theatre or at a drive-in with my Twizzlers and Milk Duds to see "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."  I haven't read the book yet...I've been meaning to but haven't had the time.  I will, however, read it before the show date...but I already know this is a movie (and a book) I am bound to love.  It features my favorite President, my favorite period in history...and vampires!  What more could I want?  Plus, I will bet you my next paycheck that the vamps in this flick won't glitter! And...there is another movie about the President..."Lincoln" starring Daniel Day-Lewis is coming out sometime in December.  I don't know as much about it, but it's probably a little more true in nature than a movie featuring the Prez with a stake and Crucifix.

Normally, I'm all excited by Spider-Man...but the genre is growing tired to me.  July 3rd...just in time to celebrate the birth of our nation...we get to go back to high school for "The Amazing Spider-Man."  Emma Stone plays Spidey's love interest...that should be enough to make me buy a matinee ticket.  I just don't know how many more times they can rehash the great power-vs-great responsibility thing.

If you saw Jerry Maguire or Top Gun...you probably think Tom Cruise can't carry a tune in a bucket (I.E.: Cruise trying to sing Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" while driving, or "You've Lost That Lovin'Feelin'" in the bar on the military base.)  Well...it looks like he's going to do his best to prove us wrong...he's starring in the film version of the Broadway musical, "Rock Of Ages." He's the featured legendary rock star...and...he really sings!  Should be interesting!  Regardless if he can sing or not, the music will be awesome overall...the show is full of 80's rock classics!  It's out June 1st. (By the way..if you haven't caught Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol"...DO IT!  It is a fabulous 12 pumps of adrenaline.. Plus, Cruise is aging really well...his smile wrinkles and crow's feet are actually rather sexy!)

One other movie I am anticipating being either totally fabulous or completely horrible is "Dark Shadows."  Johnny Depp stars as the vampire, Barnabas Collins (....and..see, here we go again with a non-glittering blood sucker!)  Michelle Pfeiffer co-stars and she is always such a beauty on screen.  This movie hits cinemas on May 11th.  I was a huge "Dark Shadows" fan when I was a little girl.  I used to watch the daytime soap with my grandma and mom (when she wasn't at work) and I thought being a vampire just had to be one of the coolest things in the world.  I guess I can thank Barnabas and the whole Collins family for helpng give me my love for the horror genre of movies, books and TV shows and even for haunted houses.

Of course, we still have another vampire movie to consider this year..."The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2" will be in theatres November 16th and it will, I guarantee, be one of the biggest grossing movies of the year!   And, don't forget there will be an "American Reunion" on April 6th.  Yep...it's finally high school reunion time for the American Pie crew.

All in all...it looks like a pretty good year for some decent to blockbuster movies!  And, I'm sure you can expect to see Q97 involved with some midnight showings along the way!  My guess is that we'll be at the 27-Twin Drive-In a lot this spring and summer...so be listening and watching for info on that.
